Bonnie Drake Obituary

Bonnie J. Drake, age 74, was called home on February 16, 2024 after living a beautiful life full of love and service.
Bonnie was born January 25, 1950 in Price, Utah to Flora Rigby and Leland Bird. After living in Price for a short time, her family then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young girl, she and her siblings spent most of their time playing outside, which consisted of riding bikes, swinging, playing hide and seek, and roller skating. She received her Bachelor’s degree, in Elementary Education, at the University of Utah and then, while working in BYU’s education department, pursued and received her Master’s degree, in Special Education, from BYU.
While working for the department of education at BYU, Bonnie met and married Richard E. Drake of Logan, Utah. After receiving her Master’s degree, Bonnie went on to work with elementary children in the special education program and really enjoyed being able to work with children.
Bonnie lived an extraordinary life full of many accomplishments. As a young adult, she enjoyed learning and traveling to other countries. She also was very musically talented and played the piano and violin for many years. Amongst her many accomplishments in life, her greatest of all was the opportunity she received to be a mother to her 3 boys, and later, a grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her father, Leland, her husband, Richard and their baby boy, Michael Taylor Drake. She is survived by 2 of her children, Ryan Drake & Steven (Andrea) Drake, her 4 grandchildren Bentley Drake, Beckham Drake, Brighton Drake, Brooklyn Drake, her mother, Flora Bird, 6 siblings Janet (Dave) Ward, David (Laurie) Bird, Susan (Dave) Whipple, Alan (Kim) Bird, Annette (Kevin) Day, Robert (Rebecca) Bird and 6 step-children Taylor (Ruriko) Drake, Leston (Jolene) Drake, Paul (Alex) Drake, Mary Kay Bican, Melanie (Jim) McAllister & Nate (Rachael) Drake.
A special thanks to the nurses, at Ashford Assisted Living, and her nurse with Serenity Hospice. Austin, who loved her and helped care for her until the end.
