Alice Furlong Rains,82 passed away January 25, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah from complications associated to Alzheimer’s. Born September 12, 1934 in Lyman, Wyoming to Blanch MacDill Furlong and Sherman Furlong.  She graduated from South High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Robert J. Rains on March 12, 1954. Bob and Alice were married for 62 years at the time of his death in 2015.  Alice loved running Sherm’s Nut House. She enjoyed roasting nuts in the store window.  She was active in church and civic organizations in various positions including Christ United Methodist Church and the Jaycees.  She is survived by her children: Thomas (Sandy) Rains, Shelley Mucha, Pamela Rains, grandchildren; Stacey Mucha, Chad (Heidi) Mucha, Alan, Jim (Dani) Nicolodemos, Robert (Lenee) Nicolodemos, several great-grandchildren, her sister Phyllis Wire as well as many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at noon at Christ United Methodist Church located at 2375 East 3300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.  Online condolences at www.holbrookmortuary.com.
