Beautiful, energetic Daisy Naranjo Barbosa, 74 – the epitome of generosity and love – departed this world alter a courageous battle with cancer. She has joined her mother in peace.

Daisy was born on November 23, 1941 in Havana, Cuba, to Gladys Gonzalez and Juan Nariko. She married Andres Albert Barbosa In 1962. At 19, to escape the oppression of a communist regime, Daisy fled the country of her birth with her son, Albert, and her in-laws to travel to the United States. She was later joined by her husband, and the family went on to embody the American dream, becoming proud citizens, hard workers, and homeowners. Because of this incredible journey, Daisy was fiercely patriotic and protective of her freedom. She loved her family, her God, and her country.

Daisy worked her entire life to ensure her family was provided for and to prepare for her retirement so she could spend time with them all. She enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to take several trips with her husband and son, visiting more than 15 countries in the last five years.

She was a joyous woman with a warm smile and a vibrant spirit. She loved dancing, shopping, and good conversation. She loved cooking for her family, and enjoyed eating as well – a nice salad, cookies, or ice cream with a little caramel on top. She was extremely organized and loved putting things order. Daisy loved being crazy with her grandkids, and just plain loved children – her own and everyone else’s. She was known to all in her neighborhood as "Grandma,” and she made every child feel they were the most important.
She will be deeply missed by the many who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Andres Barbosa; her son, Albert (Wendy) Barbosa; and her grandchildren, Brooke and Bennett Barbosa.

Services will be held in Park City, Utah, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1505 White Pine Canyon Road. There will be a viewing from 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. and the funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m.

Grave dedication will take place directly after the mass at Salt Lake Cemetery, 200 North N Street (plot is on the corner of 1000 East and 445 North inside the cemetery; enter through 11th Avenue).
