Evelyn Malstrom Nelson, our dear, sweet mother, grandmother and great grandmother returned to her loving Heavenly Father on April 27, 2016. She was born on February 27, 1924 to Edward Lorenzo Malstrom and Clara L. Bateman. She was the 8th child of 10 children. Her father died in 1930 in an industrial accident leaving her mother to raise the children by herself.

Evelyn married Arvel Nels Nelson on July 31, 1948.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised a family of 3 sons and 2 daughters.

Evelyn had many jobs until she started raising her family. She returned to work in 1970 working as a lunch lady. She worked at Skyline High School in the career center for 19 years. She loved this job and had wonderful co-workers. She retired from the career center in 1994. After retiring she was able to travel with her sister on several trips.

Evelyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She served in the Cub Scouts, Relief Society, Primary and Library. She loved church hymns and music. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and enjoyed the friend- ship of many members.  She and her family loved living and growing up in the Holladay 6th Ward.

Evelyn was a wonderful, kind, generous mother, grandma and great grandma. She loved having her family together. She will be truly missed by all her children.

She is survived by her children, David A. Nelson (Jeanne), Mark R. Nelson (Cindy), Julie A. Nelson Terry, Virginia C. Nelson Brockbank (Bernard) and by her younger brother Allen Malstrom (Dee). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Daniel R. and granddaughter Kiersten.

Family members would like to thank CNS Services and Hospice workers and volunteers for their diligent service in caring for our dear mom.

Services will be held  Thursday, May 5th at the Olympus 2nd Ward, 3070 East  Nila Way, Salt Lake City UT at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the church Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 and prior to the services 9:30 - 10:30.
