He died on April 19, 2016 from conditions incident to age and diabetes.  He was born January 22, 1923 in Oakland, California, the son of Italian immigrants Fedele and Eda Irene Bassetti Bortolussi. He did not know his legal name was Enrico Fedele Bortolussi until he had to obtain a birth certificate when he enlisted in the Army in December 1942.  Only his military and government employment records reflect his legal name.

Hank married Lawana Nebeker on February 16, 1945 in Ogden.  This marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 16, 1951.  He is the father of 2 sons (Gary and Lynn) and 2 daughters (Iva Lou and Irene).

He is a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.  Some of his service was on the island of Biak-na-Bato - part of the Philippine Islands.

His major employment was with the Veterans Administration from June 1946 until January 27, 1978 when he retired as the Chief Medical Administration Service.  He thoroughly enjoyed his position and was grateful for the ability to serve and assist veterans.

Hank loved credit unions.  He first became involved with them in 1947.  He organized the credit union at the Salt Lake VA Medical Center and had account number 1 throughout his life. He served on the Board of Directors of the League of Utah Credit Unions for many years and was the Vice Chairman for 2 years and the Chairman for 2 years.  He served on a number of State and National Committees and was a member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee for Utah Credit Unions during the Administration of 2 different Governors.  He is a member of the Hall of Fame for Utah Credit Unions.

A great love of Hank's was sports.  His wife called him a "sports nut."  He played football, baseball and basketball while in high school and lettered in each sport for 3 years.  After military service he played semi-pro baseball for 2 different teams.  He couldn't believe he received some money for doing what he loved. He enthusiastically took up golf later in his life and twice achieved a "hole in one."

He served an 18 month mission with his dear wife Lawana for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They served about 3 months at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors Center (while waiting for a VISA) and the balance of time in the Italy Rome Mission (primarily on the Island of Sardinia).  He served his church in a variety of functions but primarily enjoyed the many years as a Scout Leader and Coach of Ward Young Men in the baseball, softball, and basketball programs.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Lawana (2007) a precious daughter Iva Lou (1955) and daughter-in-law, Therese Collett Bortolussi (2012). Survivors are his older sister, Adelle Bortolussi Cook of Sonoma, CA; children, Gary H. Bortolussi (Kari Waring), Lynn Bortolussi, Irene Bortolussi (David F. Smith); 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
