After a life of service and generosity, Ida Grace Ammons, beloved sister, aunt and friend to all, passed away surrounded by loved ones on November 30 after a valiant battle with the effects of multiple myeloma.

Ida was born in Pueblo, Colorado on August 22, 1940 to Charles Franklin Ammons and Thelma Thomas Ammons.  She received a degree in microbiology from Brigham Young University and enjoyed a career as a medical technologist at Salt Lake Regional and LDS Hospitals.  She was an excellent student and lifelong learner and had an amazing ability to remember facts and details.  She enjoyed traveling and had been to many areas of the world.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She enjoyed teaching Gospel Doctrine and other classes and served as a temple ordinance worker.  As a missionary in the Eastern States Mission, she acted as a guide during the World’s Fair in New York City.  Ida was an excellent genealogist.  Her attention to detail aided her in finding and submitting accurate and complete records for thousands of her ancestors.  She met many lovely people while searching for her family.  She also enjoyed the detective work that family history involves.

Ida was generous and giving throughout her life.  Her nieces and nephews and fourteen grand nieces and nephews were richly blessed by her kindness.  She is survived by her sister, Fran Peterson and brother-in-law Richard Peterson, nieces Kimberly Peterson Edwards (Brett), Andrea Peterson Ellis (Dean), Laura Peterson Ralphs (Luke), and nephew Brent Peterson (Katie).  She is also survived by a wonderful and faithful friend, Taunya Larson, and several other great friends.  Ida was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Eric Ammons Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 6, at 11:00 A.M. in the Parley’s 5th Ward building located at 2625 East Stringham Avenue (2295 South), where friends and family can visit 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. prior to the service.  Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.  Guestbook to post messages and tributes for the family is available at: www.HolbrookMortuary.com
