Jett Cody Boseman (our “Fighter Jett”), age 5, traded in his earthly wings for a set of heavenly wings on March 2, 2017.  Jett passed away at home in the arms of his loving parents, Cody and Tennille Boseman, after a courageous fight with a lifelong condition called Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia.

From his birth in Salt Lake City, UT on December 2, 2011 to the time of his death, Jett made an enormous impact on those near and far.  His life was an example to us all.  Those touched by Jett understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.  Jett was never able to walk or talk, but taught those around him the meaning of unconditional love, courage, and adventure.  He simply radiated.  Without saying a word, Jett encouraged others to take a step back and enjoy the simple things in life…music, beautiful lights, warm blankets, cuddles, kisses, hot baths, the sunshine, and laughter. He always had a twinkle in his eyes like he knew something that others didn’t. His smile would light up a room and his “koala” cuddles were priceless.

Jett became quite the celebrity when television and radio show host Glenn Beck caught wind of his story back in 2012.  Jett’s television appearance launched “Jett’s Flight Plan”, a fundraiser to help pay for his never-ending medical expenses. Through this movement, Jett was able to travel the world without having to leave the comfort of his home and medical supplies.  Family, friends, and even complete strangers participated in the fun by purchasing and wearing a “Jett” shirt as they traveled the globe.  Hundreds of pictures flooded in from around the world of people wearing their special “Jett” shirts.  In just a year’s time, Jett traveled to 33 countries and 44 states.

Jett was considered medically fragile, but possessed a strong spirit combined with the fiercest fight.  He motivated thousands of people to appreciate their healthy and functioning bodies by “moving for those who can’t”.  This motto led to the conception and development of the Jett Powered Foundation in 2013.  The Jett Powered Foundation raised money by hosting various sporting events and competitions.  Money raised from these events went to children and their families who suffer from rare neurological disorders.

The progression of Jett’s life was not that of a typical child.  His medical needs required a lot of attention and help.  Jett was lucky to be surrounded by the most amazing nurses and doctors throughout his life both in Omaha, Nebraska and Salt Lake City, Utah.  They provided relief to Jett’s parents in times of desperation and were always quick to love Jett as if he were their own.  Jett’s parents are forever thankful for the care received from those medical professionals at Children’s Physicians Dundee (Omaha, NE), Primary Children’s Hospital (Salt Lake City, UT), and South Davis Community Hospital (Bountiful, UT).  Jett was also very lucky to have the love of a special nanny, Shelby. She became an expert at cuddling with Jett and was always there in times of need.  Jett’s aunts and grandmothers were closely involved with Jett’s care as well. They were always there to provide loving hugs, kisses, songs, and head tickles.

Throughout the years, several fundraisers have been created and carried out in support of our Fighter Jett.  Jett’s family is humbled by the generosity of those who participated in these special events.

With Jett’s passing, we are reminded that his life is one to be celebrated.  With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a gift and an opportunity to create lasting memories.  We are forever grateful that Jett’s body is now whole.  He is no longer suffering.  Instead, our little Fighter Jett is running, jumping, and playing like a typical 5-year-old should.

Jett is survived by his loving parents, Cody and Tennille Boseman of Salt Lake City, UT; paternal grandparents, Jerald and Sherrie Boseman of Salt Lake City, UT; maternal grandparents, Ray and Charlene Watts of Logan, UT; many adoring aunts and uncles; several cousins; and his doggy brother, Kusaba.

The family will greet friends for a viewing on Wednesday, March 8 from 6pm-8pm at the Hillside Stake Center; 1400 S. 1900 E.  SLC, UT 84105.  Jett’s “Going Away” celebration will be held the following day, Thursday, March 9 at 11am at the Hillside Stake Center.  Friends and family are invited for a second viewing beforehand from 9:30am-10: 30am at the same location.  Burial services will follow at Wasatch Lawn and Garden.
