Johnnie Lynn Carpenter

Johnnie Lynn Carpenter, born April 24, 1933 in Brewster, KS to Francis Lynn and Dillworth Rankin Carpenter. He went to be with Jesus on July 12, 2016. Johnnie graduated from Sherman County High School in Goodland, KS, spent two years in the Army and then attended McCook College in McCook, NE where he met the love of his life, Carol Stitt. They were married May 26, 1957 and moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he graduated from Westminster College in 1962. Over the years Johnnie worked as an engineer for Kennecott, Torkelson and Ford-Bacon and Davis in Salt Lake City.

The Carpenters were members of First United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City and in recent years Mountain View Christian Assembly in Sandy.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Carol; and the five children they were blessed with: Tamilyn (Alan) Biehl, Robin (Ron) Munoz, Laurie Carpenter (Kari Huth), Michael (Cathy) Carpenter, and James (Lori) Carpenter. Johnnie also leaves behind a brother, Larry (Barbara) Carpenter; a sister, Glennis Nagel; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Janie Sloggett. He had 11 beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Donald and Myrtis Stitt; and a brother-in-law, James Stitt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, where friends and family are invited to visit 11:30am-12:30pm prior to the service.
