MarGene Barker Lyon was born March 9, 1931 in Spokane, WA and left this life peacefully of natural causes March 20, 2018 in Layton, Utah. She was the oldest daughter of Clyde and Hilma Barker.
MarGene lived to serve others. She was the ultimate hostess, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her faith in the Savior, love of family, and passion for music were her strength throughout her life. For many years she volunteered playing piano at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building where she loved sharing her talent.
After graduating from Granite High School, she married Richard H. Douglas August 31, 1950. Together, they had five sons: Kurt (Vicki), Clay (Laura), Brad (Marsha), Lance (Lisa), and Wade (Cyndia). Dick passed away March 28, 1984. From this marriage there are 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
On September 22, 1984 MarGene married David W. Lyon. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1985. MarGene and David became the proud and loving parents and grandparents of an amazing blended family. During their 28 years together, they served a faithful mission to Nauvoo and had many opportunities to travel the world touring and visiting family. David passed away on December 18, 2012. His surviving children are: Mike (Jo Ann), Kathy (Von), Eric (Sally), Heidi (David), Dan (Chris), and Lorelee (Ron). Together, MarGene and David are parents to 11 children, grandparents to 38, and great grandparents to 68. We miss them both.
MarGene is survived by her five sons and their families, her brother Roger, sister JoAnne Elmer (Stan), and her wonderful Lyon posterity.
