Diane was so close in life to heaven and the angels, that she surely feels at home there now. Diane graced this world with the adoration of children, the understanding of the importance of family, a love of Jesus Christ and God and a gift of sociality. Her greatest accomplishment was the unconditional love and rare gift of time she freely gave to all. She welcomed friends with a smile, a side glance, often a giggle and lots of great conversation.

Diane expressed her dedication to God by serving in many capacities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including working for years in the temple. Her love of children was manifest by working closely with special needs children as a teacher’s aid (for the Granite School District) and later volunteering as a reading specialist. She was affectionately known as a baby whisperer—infants almost instantly fell asleep when laid in her arms.

Her positivity was unearthly. After facing many challenges in life and then struggling with cancer for more than three years, each time Diane was asked how she was, her face brightened and she giggled, “I feel great.”

Diane took great pleasure in the simple things in life—time spent with family, good movies, books, Big Cherries, walks, church, writing in her journal, the color blue and traveling.

The loss of her purity and sweetness is palpable, as Diane had the ability to remind us all of the things that are most important in life. But there is an equal excitement that she is now claiming her place among the greatest souls in heaven.

Diane was born March 19, 1959 in Rock Springs, Wyoming and passed away February 8, 2016 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah from breast cancer. She joyfully joins her mother, brother, sister, sister-in-law and many other dear ones in heaven. Diane is survived by her father, Charles Bell; brother, Kenneth Bell (Pat); sister, LeAnn Luczak (Steve); brother-in-law, Russ Jacobsen; and many adoring nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Rosecrest 2nd Ward, 3101 S. 2300 E., Salt Lake City, where a viewing in her honor will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service. The earth is more tender for having known Diane.
