Very sad to hear this news. I grew up in the EMC 1st. Ward and played all sports offered to the youth and young adults. Phil was always happy to see me and shake my hand. He was always there to congratulate me on the good games and with an encouraging word after the not so go ones. He really made my youth sports experience memorable and more enjoyable. I saw Phil at the Utah Basketball game a couple times in the past few years but never had the chance to talk to him since I was working at the time, so I decided to find out where his seats were and go have a chat. I am sooooo glad I did. It was really good to talk to Phil if only for 5 minutes. Rest in peace Phil, you will be missed.

Dear Evelyn and Family, We are so sorry to hear about Phil. He and I talked on the phone about a week ago, we were going to get together for a visit. In fact he had called my son Steve because he heard I wasn't doing to well. Concerned as always for others. I will miss him. Our love to you all, Irv & Norma Hansen. I hope to make it up tomorrow.

I was so saddened to hear about Phil's passing. I know it is a deep loss for your entire family. Brother Gwinnup was a kind and spiritual man who I have sweet childhood memories of. I pray for your family will feel peace at this time as you join together to remember his influence in your lives, and be comforted by the testimony that you will see him again.

Dear Evelyn and family,
Our heartfelt condolences and sympathies go out to you and the family on the loss of a wonderful man. I will always remember the support and encouragement he gave me after my illness in 2001. He was a true friend to me and all that knew him. He will certainly be missed.
Our prayers to all of you.
