Robert Phillip Carlisle, “The Gimper”, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2016 in West Jordan, Utah. He had recently celebrated his 90th birthday with friends and family. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Francis Earl and Frances Doris Rose Carlisle on June 23, 1926. Bob married Norma Dean Carlisle on December 15, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.  He is survived by his children: Pam Parkin, Scott (Jenny) Carlisle, and Rene (Kirk) Riding; his daughter-in-law, Alice Carlisle; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his son, Alan.

Bob was a Navy Veteran of WWII and attended both the University of Utah and Marquette University.  During his career he was involved in medical research, education, and medical electronics.

Throughout their marriage, Bob and Norma lived in East Millcreek, UT; Milwaukee, WI; Holladay, UT; Port Orford, OR and Sandy, UT.  They were great philanthropists, believing that they should help others whenever they were able.

Outdoor activities, family camp trips, Boy Scouting, and nature photography were a few of his loves.

Bob gave outstanding service to the LDS church, including serving as a Sunday School president, branch president, and Boy Scout leader.  He gave his time and full energy to every endeavor.

His unforgettable crooked smile, wit and humor will be missed.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Founders Park 6th Ward, 5072 West Roaring Road, South Jordan.
