Robert Andrew Erickson passed away on Nov 4, 2016 in Salt Lake City at the age of 95. Bob was born in June of 1921 to Evan and Vera Erickson in Ephraim, Utah. He graduated from Snow College with an Associate’s Degree and many awards for achievements in sports, including the State Championship for the Javelin Throw.

A lifelong learner, Bob was most often found with a book in his hands. He enjoyed many things in life, including hunting, fishing, almost every sport, anything to do with planes, and cars of all kinds. He traded cars so often we sometimes failed to remember which one we were driving. Bob loved people and made friends wherever he went, many of those friendships lasting a lifetime. His military service was in the Navy, where he served as an air traffic controller on the Island of Saipan. He would continue in air traffic control as a civilian, retiring from the FAA after 31 years.

A member of the LDS church, he married Dena Walker in March of 1948, and their union was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They spent 68 ½ happy years together. Bob is survived by his wife; daughters, Rolayne (John) Custino, Denise (Mark) Bowers; grandchildren, Jason (Kehaulani) Custino, Quinne Custino, Joshua (Ashley) Bowers, and Jeffrey (Nichelle) Bowers; three great-grandsons, Koamalu and Kahiau Custino, and Thad Bowers; brother-in-law, Robert Walker; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Keith and Clair “Bud” Erickson.

We as his family enjoyed his unwavering love and support in all of our endeavors. We will miss his legendary sense of humor, his twinkling blue eyes, his amazing knowledge about everything, and the fairness that he showed to all people.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov 11, 2016 at 11:00AM in the Grandview 3rd Ward, 2930 South 2000 East, where friends and family can visit 9:30-10:30AM prior to the funeral. Dedication of the grave and military honors will take place at the Heber City Cemetery at approx. 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in memory of Robert Erickson to Snow College, 150 College Ave, Ephraim, Utah 84627, 435-283-7060.
