Robert Boyd Greene, 92, died peacefully at his home in Millcreek, Utah on Thursday, January 21, 2016 following a brief illness.

Born July 11, 1923 in Los Angeles, California, to Lawrence John Greene and Ruth Ada Whitmore. Bob was a member of the armed forces, serving in the U.S. Navy, National Guard, and U.S. Army. As a veteran of World War II Bob served in the Philippines, Antioch, Okinawa, and Pearl Harbor. While in the Army Bob was a sharp shooter and also attained the rank of Master Sergeant where he earned the respect of the many Soldiers with whom he served.

While Bob was born in Los Angeles he also lived in Green River, Wyoming; Springville, Utah, and spent the bulk of his family life at his home in Millcreek, Utah. Upon his separation from the military Bob worked in construction as a pipe layer, eventually becoming a Superintendent and Inspector for Cottonwood Sanitation District where he was recognized by his peers and subordinates alike as “The Best Damn Inspector Cottonwood Ever Had,” retiring in 1986.

Military was not his only service. Bob was recognized by the Utah Foster Care Foundation for the love and care he provided to approximately 56 foster children. Bob also served the community as a pilot with Civil Air Patrol, and as a Survival Training and Hunter Safety Instructor with the Utah Department of Fish and Game.

Bob will be especially remembered for the love, respect, and life lessons he shared with those he came in contact with.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Greene Thompson and Tina Greene Hensley. Bob also leaves behind three step children, 24 grandchildren, 77 great grandchildren, and 78 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 1750 East 3300 South.
