Ruth N. Egli Proctor-Garff passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017.  She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 27, 1925 to Joseph and Elizabeth B. Egli who emigrated from Europe to the United States.  She is survived by four sons: Steve (Colleen), Brent, Craig (Jana), and Glen (Annette), 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren (with one on the way).  Also survived by her brother Ralph Egli, and Sister JoAnn Tree and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom grew up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, attending Forest Elementary, Irving Junior High, and South High School.  She later attended the LDS Business College.

Ruth served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States from 1945-47.  She married Harold T. Proctor on May 26, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.   He passed away on September 21, 1988.  She married Wayne B.  Garff on March 29, 2001.   He passed in August 2007.

Mom loved any kind of music and enjoyed many years of dancing with good friends.   She loved the opera and was delighted to attend many live performances with her sisters and sons.  She was an active participant in local choirs including the Swiss Choir, Singing Mothers, and Ward Choirs.

She loved her sons and their wives.  She showed great delight in all of their accomplishments.  She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

After her marriage to Wayne, Mom enjoyed many vacations and activities with the Garff Family.  She became close with Wayne’s children and grandchildren.

When you sat at moms dinner table each meal was gourmet caliber, and all were welcome.  Mother’s life was dedicated to serving others.  She was a consummate friend to all.  During her life she loved to travel to different places, spend time with dad at Yellowstone Ranch and all other family get together’s.  Her influence was far and wide and will be greatly missed.
