Our loving mother, grandmother, and friend Shirley Broomhead Butters Olsen passed away peacefully and was reunited with her 3 children Saturday December 16 at her home in Murray, Utah. Born November 19, 1930 to William Sutherland and Della Fay Hill Broomhead. Shirley was an amazing wife, sister, mother and grandmother, she was one in a million, a true caretaker and provider. She could cook for an army and her home was always open to anyone, everyone was always welcome to stop by for a laugh and a drink at any time. Shirley always made sure her friends and family were taken care of, she served a family dinner every Thursday and Sunday night and enjoyed poker nights, bowling and golfing with her closest friends up until the day she passed. Shirley took great pride in being a mother and grandmother, she raised 3 amazing children that had many of her qualities. She was the first person you could count on and the last person to let you down.  She wasn’t afraid of hard work and when times were tough she encouraged her family to “put your head down and your butt up and get it done” Shirley held everyone to a high standard, she was the type of person that if she said she was going to do something she would get it done no matter what, she expected you to do the same or she would “drop kick” ya!! Her children were ingrained with these principles and went on to lead very successful and fruitful lives. Shirley adored her grandchildren and she looked forward to spending time each week preparing meals, sharing stories, and talking about sports.  She loved to golf, bowl and was a state champion trap shooter, she could hit a clay pigeon as easy as cooking thanksgiving turkey, she made everything seem so easy.  She worked as an executive secretary for over 25 years and was proud of the work she put in until the day she retired.  Shirley was the glue that held our family together, she will be missed by all of her friends and family.  It just won’t be the same without “Gram”. We know that she is happy and finally with her kids that she missed so much, Blaine, Randy, and Janet. We know that they are all together now watching over us and guiding us. We love you Gram and will you miss you more than you will ever know.

Preceded in death by her parents, William Sutherland Broomhead and Dell Fay Hill; husband, Wayne Olsen; brothers, Marvin Broomhead and Craig Barnard; and her beloved children, Blaine Butters, Randy Butters, and Janet Benson.

Survived by her best friend/sister-in-law, Roseanne Broomhead; wonderful grandchildren, Lisa Lee (Bob), Becca McKissack, Alexis Riche (Johnny), Lindsey White (Zach), Trevor Cox (Dixie), Dustin Cox; and great-grandchildren, Britten, Kennady, Keelyn, Mason, Jayson, Dillon, Kaylee, and Brixton.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, were friends may visit with the family from 9:00am to 10:30am prior to the service.
