Utella Smith Taft (“Grams”).  What a beautiful day Utella had on December 22, 2017, when she was surrounded by her family and peacefully moved onto her new life.  We sincerely believe that she is happy and glad to be liberated of that old, worn out body.  Grams is probably as beautiful now as she was when she was young. Perhaps she is all dressed up, wearing high heels and dancing up a storm. That would be her heaven!

Utella is proceeded in death by her parents (Joseph and Mary Smith), Brother (Ernest Smith), Husband (Vern Ivan Taft), Son (Michael Vern Taft), Grandsons (Tyler Rauzon and Kristopher Taft).  She is survived by Sons Neil (Sandie) and Russell (Leslie), Daughter Cheryl (Lance), Daughter-In-Law Dianne, 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Grams always had time for her friends, children, and especially, her grandkids.  She took great pride in her appearance with her hair styled, her nails done, and always dressed for the occasion. Her playful and quick sense of humor will be missed.

As a family, we want to give a heartfelt thanks to Summit Hospice Care and the Canyon Creek Assisted Living staff during this difficult time.  All involved treated Grams with love and utmost respect.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.  Please come casual dress.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Primary Children’s Hospital.  The hospital has taken great care of some of her grandkids.
