Wayne Jacob Schipaanboord passed away on November 10, 2015. He was born May 11, 1942, Salt Lake City, Utah to Jack and Jane Hart Schipaanboord. He was the oldest of the Schipaanboord’s three children, sister Donna and brother Dale. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Jane Schipaanboord.
Wayne was educated in the Salt Lake City School District and also LDS Business School. He worked and spent his life helping others and trying to make the community a better place for people to live. Skip served as a Salt Lake County Sheriff for 27 years.
He married Tara Hansen, June 1, 1967, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children, three sons, Zane, Shon, and Evan, and a daughter TaraLee. He loved and adored his family.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his whole life. He served a two and half year LDS mission to the Netherlands. He also served a mission in the Inner City as well as in the Canyon Creek Residence Center.
He believed in Civil Duty as he served in the Utah Army National Guard.
Skip is survived by his wife Tara, sons, Zane (Kimberly) Schipaanboord, Shon (Tiffany) Schipaanboord, Evan “Rude” Schipaanboord, and daughter, TaraLee (Mike) Enger. He was a proud grandfather to ten as well as a great-grandfather.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:00am at the Midvalley Stake Center, 1106 East 8050 South. Friends and family are invited to visit Sunday evening 6:00-8:00pm at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Monday morning 9:30-10:30am prior to the service. Burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
