Sylvia Lucille (Somsen) Henricks
February 5, 1946 ~ December 13, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years OldSylvia Lucille Henricks of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away at 11:15pm on Wednesday, December 13 at the age of 71 years.
Born in 1946 to Leo Somsen and Dorothy Smalley-Somsen, she grew up in Cokeville, Wyoming on a sheep ranch. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Sylvia moved to Salt Lake City to teach second grade at Rowland Hall St. Mark’s. During her 35 year career, Sylvia met the love of her life, Alexander M. Henricks III. They were married on June 28, 1975 in a church built by her father in Cokeville. During their time together, Alex and Sylvia had two children, Alexander M. Henricks IV and Anne Elizabeth Henricks Crawford.
The hub of the family, Sylvia enjoyed socializing, entertaining, camping, traveling, reading and later in life spending time with her grandchildren. Most recently Sylvia accomplished a life-long dream of an Alaskan cruise that she loved with friends and family. Sunday dinners were a weekly event. She hosted her children and grandchildren for an evening of food and laughter. Campouts were an annual event (weather permitting). She spent time camping in numerous western states but loved camping in Cokeville the most.
Survived by her husband, Alexander M. Henricks III, children Alexander M. Henricks IV (Allison), Anne Elizabeth Crawford (Cameron), and grandchildren (Gavin, Marcus, Maxwell, Maddie, Sadie). Preceded in death by her sister, Julie Quayle, brother-in-law Bill Quayle.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 261 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Friends and family are invited to visit Wednesday evening, December 20, from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City.
