Marillyn Nelson Obituary

Marillyn Louise Kreutzer Nelson, 87, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, April 18, 2021, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Marillyn was born December 14, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of George and Luise Kreutzer.  Married and sealed to Stanton Andrew Nelson August 9, 1956, in the Salt Lake City Temple, and were the proud and loving parents to 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mom was born of immigrant parents from Germany and was so very proud of them and the heritage of which she belonged in blessing her with a strong work ethic and as a skilled and meticulous homemaker.  She attended Salt Lake City public schools and was a graduate of West High School.  Mom met and married the man who was “head over heals” in love for her, Stan, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served valiantly in many callings and responsibilities.... especially with the young women in her early years. One of her cherished callings was serving side by side with Dad as a missionary in the Salt Lake City, Utah Inner City Mission.  Mom had an strong and unwavering faith, testimony and conversion of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and until the very day she passed away always had the scriptures open with markings of her many readings.

Mom and Dad enjoyed a wonderful and cherished relationship together for 63 years until Dad passed away on December 19, 2019. Mom missed her beloved sweetheart so very much at his passing. Mom was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Over the last several years she loved to spend time alone in her TV room, looking and pondering over and about the many pictures on her wall of her precious grandchildren.  She would often say, “some of my greatest blessings in life call me Grandma.”  Mom always had a smile on her face, always laughing, always positive and never complained about anything or anyone.  She taught us, loved us, encouraged us, was always there with and for us.  Mom will be forever our angel Mother!!

As with Dad, Mom had the great blessing of being cared for, loved and ministered to each and every day by our sister Cynthia.  Her kindness, compassion and constant service with love towards Mom was a great example of what the Greatest of them all has said “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these, ye have done it unto me.”  How grateful we are for Cynthia!

Mom is survived by her children Brian (Mirin), Cynthia Knight, Lance, Greg (Janette); and son-in-law Marvin Procter.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Tyler (Heather), Cami (Geoff), Alex (Emily), Hillary, Brett (Chelsea), Chelsey (Cory), Spencer (Abbie), Becky, Nelson, Nicholas, Nate (Kate), Hayden and 18 beautiful great-grandchildren.

Mom is preceded in death by her beloved sweetheart, Stan, her daughter Denise; her grandson Jonathon; parents George & Luise Huwe Kreutzer; and cherished siblings Ruth, Donald, Dorothy and Carollyn.
