Tricia Westbrook Obituary

Tricia Lee Westbrook, 70, passed away in her home December 9, 2022. Leader, artist, singer, cake boss, quilter, cyclist, caregiver, administrator, animal lover, wife, mother and friend.

Tricia was born September 6, 1952 in Salt Lake City to Ethel Jeanne Buhler and James Edward Fenton. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1970. She attended Westminster College where she was Women’s Editor for the Parson Journal, Student Court Secretary, and enjoyed studying oil painting. On May 26, 1973 she married William Jackson Westbrook and together, they participated in several Masonic organizations, the Ulster Project and Christ United Methodist Church. She cared for her husband through his passing in 2018.

In her early career, Tricia worked in administrative roles for Tracy Collins Bank, and Unisys (formerly Sperry). She also had a cake business creating wedding and character cakes for special occasions. She spent the bulk of her career at the University of Utah as the administrator overseeing the process for medical faculty review, promotion and tenure in the Department of Pediatrics. In 2020, she retired from the U of U with 28 years of service.

Through the years, Tricia held many leadership roles including Grand Guardian of Job’s Daughters for the state of Utah; President, Ulster Project Utah; Board of Trustees, CUMC. She continually held significant offices in Masonic organizations including Eastern Star, Social Order of the Beauceant and Daughters of the Nile. She also volunteered as an elementary school Art Mom, and a Girl Scout Troop Leader.

Tricia is remembered fondly as a generous, creative woman and giving spirit. She was famous for being a fast friend, her witty humor and providing encouragement. At the end of her busy days she could be found at home surrounded by her animals, a varying mix of cats and dogs. She is survived by her daughter Evette Raen (Alex Arakelian); and son James Westbrook (Stephanie Glaittli).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 7th, 11 am at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E 3300 S, Salt Lake City, Utah.
