Claude "Wayne" Denney

On August 15, 2017, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather peacefully passed away at his home.  He was born October 26, 1936 in Downey, Idaho to John C. and Phoebe Christensen Denney.  On December 2, 1957, he married Jeanette E. Pead in the Logan LDS Temple. 

Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, astronomy, sports, and coaching his sons in little league baseball for many years.  He taught his sons how to hunt, fish, work hard, think for themselves, and fix anything with anything that he had around and if he didn't have a tool, he would invent his own.  He had a special little angel, his daughter Janna, and he even made a license plate for his prized ’56 Merc named for her, “JANNAD”.  He worked for 51 years in the floor covering business before retiring.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Elaine, and his older brother, Farrell.  He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, four sons, Michael (Ruth) Denney, Kent (Lori) Denney, Arlen (Tracie) Denney, Kelly (Tracy) Denney, and one daughter, Janna (Scott) Walker, 17 grandchildren and soon to be 9 great-grandchildren, his older sister, Lou Anna (Glen) Fifield, sister-in-law Sara Meredith (Farrell, deceased) Denney.  Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and best friend and traveling buddy, Benji, his dog.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilford Ward, 3179 S. Highland Drive.  Friends and family are invited to visit Friday, August 25, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 South.  Guestbook to post messages and tributes for the family available at:  HolbrookMortuary.com
