Our beloved angel wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 30, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer, at age 85.

She was born to J. Russell Farnes and Ida Rosylvia Jacobsen on Sunday, September 20, 1931, in Darby, Teton County, Idaho. As a girl she lived a pioneer-like lifestyle in a log home on Pine Creek Bench, Swan Valley, Idaho—surrounded by a close and loving family with five brothers and one sister.

She graduated from North Pine Creek School and Ucon High School and attended Ricks College. Later she graduated from Salt Lake Medical Assistant School and used her skills to help fund the education of her daughters.

In 1955–56, she served in the LDS Great Lakes Mission, in Indiana. On her return, she married Ralph Royce Hinckley on June 12, 1957, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. Together as newlyweds, they finished his successful stake mission in Glendale, California, before starting her most important mission, that of being mother to four daughters: Colleen; Sharon (Dennis Gillen); Evelyn (Steven White); and Karen (Brad Hansen). She treasured her faithful family above all else.

She was an active and faithful member of the LDS Church to the very end. She served faithfully in many varied callings including as an organist, a teacher, a Relief Society president, and in five other presidencies. The 13 years she served in the Jordan River Temple along with her husband as an ordinance worker and a coordinator were a special highlight in her Church service. She bore her testimony of Jesus Christ by the way she lived—always choosing kindness, forgiveness, and love. She surely will be lifted up to meet the Savior and descend to reign with her family intact throughout the millennium. We will deeply miss her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph; daughters; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Lyle (Alice) and Glen (Doriene); and sisters-in-law Ila June and Deniece. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jay (Fay), Elden, Larry; and her sister, LaRee.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the River Ridge First Ward at 10124 South 1300 West in South Jordan, Utah. Friends may also call Thursday, May 4, 2017,  from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the same ward house. Interment at the South Jordan City Cemetery.
