Leonore Diane Bowers Williams
December 12, 1937 - December 1, 2019
Diane, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, sister, passed away Sunday morning. Mom was gentle soul, loving, quick-witted, and will be dearly missed by family and friends. She was born December 12th, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Harold Collins Bowers and Leonore Elizabeth Twiggs. She grew up in Salt Lake, graduated from East High School, then continued her studies at the University of Utah, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Science, class of 1960. She married Richard Dale Williams on September 4th, 1959, later sealed in the LDS Temple (June 22, 1973). She has three children (Doug, Don, Denise), five grandchildren (Christopher, Nathan, Erica, Cory, Jessica), and two great grandchildren (Violet & Fox). She is survived by her brother and sister (Collie Bowers and Cheri McKinney) and preceded in death by her husband Dale Williams (1993), Howard McKinney- (brother-in-law), and Jan Bowers – (sister-in-law).
Grandma loved all of her grandkids and love spending time with them throughout many years, helping them learn, grow and develop, making them meals, attending school events, and taking them swimming. Grandma’s favorite time of the year was Christmas when she would have as many people as possible in her home for Christmas brunch. On many occasions it would be standing room only, but she loved having her family around her at all times. She really missed seeing them on a daily basis as they grew up seeking adventure in the world.
Diane loved working at LDS and Altaview hospitals in the laboratory for many years, where she enjoyed many lab friends and colleagues. She later retired and started her own business selling Avon products, receiving the Presidents & Rose Club award for outstanding sales for multiple years.
Diane was an active member of the LDS church and librarian for Cottonwood Creek Ward. She volunteered for many years welcoming visitors to the Joseph Smith building in downtown Salt Lake City.
Mom was always a loving soul, welcoming others non-judgmental into her home, caring for who they are, willing to serve them a hot meal to get them back on their feet, in hopes of a better world.
