After a remarkable life filled with family, friends, fun, and fortitude, Geralee Swan Murdock passed from this life peacefully in her sleep on May 20, 2018. Geralee was born May 22, 1933 to Julia Mae Faux and Charles Burton Swan Jr. She was the oldest of their three daughters.
Geralee grew up in Orem, UT. After graduating from BYU in Early Childhood Education, she worked at the LDS Church Office Building as the secretary for Elder Ezra Taft Benson for two years, then decided to move to Whittier California to teach kindergarten. It was there that she met her sweetheart Robert John Murdock. They were sealed June 25, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Geralee and Bob moved to Millcreek, UT in 1967 where they raised their four children.
In 1987 Geralee went to work for the Utah State Department of Water Resources as a secretary. She worked there for 24 years, retiring at age 78.
Geralee was a faithful member of the LDS Church. She served in many callings including Primary President and in Relief Society and Young Women’s presidencies. Her favorite calling was Primary pianist which she held for 16 years. No one could play Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes faster!
Geralee loved being a Grammy! She wanted to be a part of everything her children and grandchildren did. Even after her kidney failure and being on dialysis, she took her family on three trips to Disneyland, and on a cruise to the Caribbean. She was always up for an adventure and loved being with people.
Geralee is survived by her sisters and brother in-law Marian (Nolan) Mangelson and Linda Christensen. Her four children Bruce (Michelle) Murdock, Michele (Dave) Wilbur, Cheri (Romm) Jackson, Brent (Lori) Murdock, and 14 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, and her brother-in-law Doug Christensen.
