Helen Jean Schoney Fulghum

On September 11, 2017, Jean (Schoney) Fulghum, age 93, passed peacefully from this life and was reunited with her devoted husband, Jim. We will all miss her kind spirit, empathetic ear, encouraging words, and engaging smile. We are comforted knowing she will be with those who have passed before her. All of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, and loved ones are better for having known her. We learned from her to enjoy life, family, friends, travel and movies.

Jean was born in Midway, Utah on July 1, 1924 to Joseph and Merne (Johnson) Schoney. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah. She met, fell in love with, and married Jim Fulghum on March 4, 1944. We have many happy memories in the home they created among friends in Holladay, Utah.

After many years of a beautiful marriage, Jean and her husband Jim were sealed together for time and all eternity in the San Diego LDS Temple on March 5, 1997. Shortly after they celebrated 60 blissful years of marriage, Jim passed away suddenly in 2004. Although she loved spending time with family and friends, she was not completely at peace until she was with her life-long companion again.

Jean is survived by her two children, Jim (Karyn) and Janice (Bruce); five grandchildren, Christine (Philip), Paul, Hollie, Kimberly (Dennis), and Kyle (Karen); and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eternal companion Jim, parents, and siblings.

Jean’s family expresses their gratitude for the excellent care and attention the professionals at Rosewood Assisted Care and her hospice nurse, Michelle, provided to Jean during the final months of her life.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Valley View 3rd Ward, 1925 E. Gunderson Lane (4101 S).
