Richard Lee Radcliff, age 73, passed away at his home in Murray, Utah on June 18, 2017 after courageously battling a long illness.

Richard was born in Topeka, Kansas on January 25, 1944 to parents Bonnie and Arthur. At the age of 5, his family moved to Sacramento, California. He graduated from La Sierra High School in Sacramento in 1962. It was while at La Sierra that he was introduced to his future wife, Jill, who he would marry on August 7, 1965. They soon moved to Stockton, California where Richard began working for the Western Pacific Railroad, and with whom he would continue to work for until his retirement in 1988. It was with the Railroad that he and his family moved to Murray in 1983 and where he would reside until his passing.

He and Jill were the proud parents of 3 sons, Brett, Eric, and Drew who he taught the values of hard work, respect, love, and dignity. Richard was very active with his son’s lives, and could often be found coaching their little league baseball teams. He also enjoyed helping in any way he could by sharing in their love for ice hockey, where he had a strong presence in the Stockton Colts Ice Hockey Association for many years. Richard was also a known physical fitness buff and could be found several days a week with his friends at 24-hour fitness in Murray prior to his illness. He was a friend to all, and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Richard is survived by Jill, his loving wife of 51 years, his 3 son’s Brett, Eric (Jennelee) and Drew, his 5 grandchildren Madilyn, Hannah, Cameron, Lauren and Mali, his best friend and brother Rodger Radcliff, sister-in-law Barbara, mother-in-law Penny Armstrong, nephews Troy and James, and niece Stephanie. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Jim Armstrong, brothers-in-law Duke, Max and Jeff Armstrong, and a long list of much beloved pets.

Friends and family of Richard are invited to say their goodbyes at a celebration held in his honor on Sunday June 25th, from 2:00-5:00 at the home of Richard and Jill, 5097 so. Arrowhead Circle, Murray, Utah. Online guestbook to post messages and tributes for the family available at: HolbrookMortuary.com

The family would like to send a special thank you to Richard’s physician of over 30 years, Dr. Roy Gandolfi as well as Mike and the rest of the staff at Millcreek Hospice Care for the outstanding care given to Richard during his illness.
