Ruth Ann Holman Cunningham Rhead danced her last Tango Thursday, October 24, 2019 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. Family was always the focus of mom's life. Her love and devotion will continue to influence everyone whose lives she touched. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah November 27, 1922 to Willard and Gladys Holman a child of the “Greatest Generation” mom sold World War II bonds after graduating from South High School in 1940,.
She was active with the March of Dimes and served countless hours with the LDS Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. Ruth held many positions with the LDS Church but was happiest working with the Young Women’s Association. Ruth was secretary to Governor Herbert Maw and spent many years working in the Utah State Legislature. She loved spending time at the family cabin in Pine Mountain and also at her home in St. George, Utah. Ruth traveled to Europe, Singapore, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, and most of the United States. She loved playing the piano for family parties . She enjoyed dancing with many friends at the Murray Arts Center dances. Her homemade rolls and divinity were legendary! She enjoyed beating you at SkipBo or a spirited game of spoons, growing beautiful flowers and spent hours putting puzzles together.
Ruth will be fondly remembered and missed by her children: Brent Rigby Cunningham (Christine), Betty Ann Cunningham, Kaylene Cunningham, James Bennett Cunningham Jr., (Cheryl) and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Preceded in death by her sister Betty Jean Pearson (Ralph), brother Willard Holman (Melba) and great grandson Izayiah Scott.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Cottonwood Creek Ward, 1250 East Murray Holladay Road, Millcreek, Utah 84117. Friends may call Monday, October 28th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Funeral Home, 3251 South 2300 East Millcreek, Utah 84109 and on Tuesday, October 29th from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services at the church.
