Sandra Lucy (Snow) Madsen

Sandra Lucy Snow Madsen passed away from natural causes early on the morning of April 30, 2017. She was born January 19, 1933 to Glenn and Laura Gardner Snow. She grew up spending her summers in Pine Valley, UT and the school year in St. George, UT. Sandra married Kenneth R. Madsen in the St. George Temple on July 15, 1953. They were married nearly 50 years when Kenneth died in 2003. She lived a life of service always thinking of others before herself. “Aunt Sandy” was often there to help one of the many extended family members in times of need. She was a lifelong active member of the LDS church and served in many callings. She also had a passion for genealogy and worked with the Snow, Gardner and Leavitt family groups among others. After surviving breast cancer in the 1970s she first volunteered at the American Cancer Society and then worked full-time for several years as the director of the Reach to Recovery program.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, sister Callie and three brothers Gardner (Joyce), Karl (Glenna) and R.J. (Marilyn). She is survived by her five children Mark Madsen, Dale Madsen, Laural Gygi (Mike), Christine Crosland, and Garth Madsen (Charmaine) and her daughter by affection Blythe Darlyn Thatcher. Also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  A viewing will be held at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, SLC, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday May 4, 2017. A graveside service will be held Saturday May 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pine Valley, UT cemetery.
