Beth Bush Obituary

Beth was born on May 13, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Owen and Louise McEwan. She grew up on Wilmington Ave in the Parleys area.

Beth passed away at home on December 18, 2020 in St. George, Utah, with her devoted husband, Allan Bush at her side.

Beth graduated from East High School in 1958 and graduated from Brigham Young University.

She has been a lifelong fan of the Cougars.

Beth served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Sydney, Australia Mission from 1963 to 1964. While serving she met Elder Douglas Jarman who she later married on February 4, 1966 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had two children, Matthew M. Jarman and Douglas O. Jarman.

Her husband, Doug, passed away in May 1970 due to injuries sustained in a bicycling accident.  Beth and her boys lived with Beth’s mother for a time following the passing of Doug.  Beth made many sacrifices on behalf of her boys and has always been very proud of them.

Beth worked for many years in administrative positions at LDS Hospital, most notably in the Bio-Physics and Pulmonary Departments. She was relied upon heavily by the doctors and staff and kept the departments in good order.

In 1977, Beth and her boys moved to Midvale, Utah, where they resided for many years.

After 25 years of being a single mom, Beth married Allan Bush, on November 9, 1995. Beth and Allan enjoyed a wonderful companionship, traveling and serving together in many callings.

Beth and Allan served as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple for a number of years.  Beth and Allan moved to the Millcreek area and were called to serve a mission for the church in Ithaca, New York during the years of 2007-09. They served the students of Cornell University. Beth spent much of her time teaching the gospel and cooking for the students, which she enjoyed very much.

After returning from their mission, Beth and Allan were prompted to serve another mission. They served in the Washington DC Temple from 2013-14.

After returning from their mission Beth and Allan decided to spend their retirement years in St George, Utah.

Beth was always very dedicated to her faith and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She had the opportunity to serve in many organizations and positions in the church. Missionary service had a special place in her heart.

Beth was friendly, outgoing, and she loved attending events for family and friends. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Pines Ranch. Her family meant everything to her and she was always there for them. These were her greatest joys.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Douglas Jarman, and her sister Carol Wilkinson.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Allan Bush, her sisters Mary Issacs (Werner), Marj Kilmer (John), brothers Tom McEwan (Janelle), Bill McEwan (Janet), her sons Matthew (Kristen) Jarman and Douglas (Cathy) Jarman, 6 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Dixie Home Rehab and Hospice and St. George Senior Helpers for their loving care and all those who have supported Beth during this last year.
