Our beloved father and grandfather, Brozell Coons Jr. passed away November 17, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born June 6, 1934 to Brozell and Mary Coons in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married his childhood sweetheart, Georgina Osguthorpe, on June 18, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 64 wonderful years together until Georgina’s passing in 2018. Brozell graduated from Granite High School and went on to attend the University of Utah graduating with a degree in Sociology.
Dad was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a strong testimony. He served in many church callings including Scout Master, Elder’s Quorum, High Councilor and Bishop of the East Millcreek 16th Ward.
Brozell retired at the age of 66 after a successful career in the power transmission industry.
Dad led by example. He taught his posterity the importance of hard work, faith, and family. He will be dearly missed, but we celebrate the joyful reunion he is enjoying with his wife, daughter and family.
Brozell is survived by: sons; Stephen (Teresa), Michael (Julie), Christopher (Tami), Courtland (Karen), Son-in-Law Daniel Horne; siblings Ruth Jackson, Jean Manwill, and John Coons; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Georgina, daughter Susan, parents, brother Earl Jay and sister Bernice.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family from 9:30am to 10:30am prior to the funeral.
