Bruce LeRoy Moesser passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2023. He was born June 9, 1934, to John Evans Moesser and Vanda Bolton Moesser. He attended Cyprus High School and received a degree in accounting from the University of Utah.
Bruce served with the U.S. Army in Germany and loved those two years, especially traveling throughout Europe. He later served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central Atlantic States Mission. He married Ruth Anne Sharp in the Salt Lake Temple, March 24, 1961. They were blessed with five children.
Bruce was a successful bank executive for over 20 years and co-founded Rothchild’s Pawn Shops. He loved the pawn business, especially his interactions with customers and employees. Ultimately, his pawn shops accounted for one third of all pawn business in Utah.
He faithfully served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including as bishop of the Winder Ward. Once retired, he and Ruth Anne served in the Croatia-Zagreb Mission as well as the South Africa-Johannesburg Mission.
He lived a life of humor, service, love, balance and integrity. He loved traveling, reading, waterskiing, fishing, hiking and hunting, and never, to the chagrin of his family, overstayed his welcome! Even after seeing much of the world, Lake Powell, Ivins, Big Cottonwood Canyon, and his East Millcreek home were still his favorites. We will miss Bruce but know he is looking forward to new adventures in the next life.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Anne; five children: Daniel (Nayomi Ingalls), David (Andrea Adams), Melissa (Paul Arbon), Emily (Gregory Randall), and Laura (Joseph E. Goodman III); nineteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother, Dale, and sister, LaJuana.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 12:00 p.m. in the chapel on 3750 S Hillside Lane. There will also be a viewing at the same location on Friday, June 23, 6:00–8:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 24, 10:00–11:30 a.m. Bruce will be interred in Elysian Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South.
