Salt Lake City, Utah-Carrie Christine Woodruff Drew, born March 1, 1918 in Oberon, North Dakota to George and Gertrude Woodruff, passed away peacefully January 2, 2022. Her younger years were spent growing up in Cheyenne, Wyoming where she graduated from Cheyenne High School. She then attended the University of Wyoming, Laramie, for a time before her marriage to the love of her life, Donald D. Drew. Together they lived in Denver, San Francisco and Washington D.C., later settling in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Then in 1958 the family moved to Salt Lake City, where they ultimately retired. Carrie spent many years working as an executive secretary for various companies, including Kennecott. Both she and her husband were long-time members of First United Methodist Church where Carrie served on various church committees, women's circles and programs.
She also volunteered with Tenth East Senior Center having operated the thrift store for a number of years; she was a member of Lynds OES Chapter #1, Order of Eastern Star, Good Sam Club #1 and she volunteered over 25 years with the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. She and Don also enjoyed years of ballroom dancing as members of Literary and University of Utah dance clubs. Many camping and trailer trips and other travel adventures were enjoyed by Carrie and Don. As it was her strong belief to help others, Carrie also supported with generosity her church, various charities and community needs.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald and daughter, Carolyn Morris, sister Sena Albee, and is survived by her son Donald E. (Judith) Drew, Son-in-Law Maynard Morris, grandchildren Alan (Hua) Morris, Christopher (Sara) Drew, Kevin (Robyn) Morris, Bethany (Ken) Marvel, 10 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life and interment of ashes will be held at a later date in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
