A giant of a man passed away last Thursday. Don Jensen Racine was born September 22, 1926 to Louis and Minnie Racine. He passed away surrounded by family on October 29, 2020. He reached the wonderful age of 94.
Don graduated from South High at the age of 15. He served in the Army during World War 2. Later, along with his brother Ray, he started two businesses, Durafloor and Boats Inc.
On July 2, 1949 he married his sweetheart, Janet Ruth Jenson. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 1, 1953. They were blessed with 3 children who brought fire, chaos, and of course great joy to them. Over the years the family grew, adding 15 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
Dad was our Hero. He stood tall at 6’2”. We lovingly remember the Bible and Book of Mormon stories he told us each night. He had a way of making these stories come alive. His testimony was a source of strength to the whole family. He truly loved the Savior. He treasured his knowledge of the gospel, and his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.
Dad was an active man who loved boating, water and snow skiing, tennis and golf. He especially loved doing these activities with his family at his side. We each have many wonderful memories of boating at Lake Powell, and snow skiing at Alta.
We will miss his vibrant spirit, and his big smile, but we know he is finding joy at being reunited with his eternal companion.
He is survived by 3 children, Dana, Leigh and Doug, and His two sisters Joyce, and Deonna. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet, his parents, two brothers Ray, and Dave, and his sister Jeanette.
We love you dad.
