Dorothy Ann Anderson Ostler
March 19, 1932 – June 10, 2023
We lost our beautiful, sweet, precious wife, mother, grandmother and friend on June 10, 2023 at the age of 91. Dorothy was born on March 19, 1932 in Fountain Green, Utah to Arthur G. and Theora C. Anderson. Dorothy spent her early years primarily with activities of her close-knit family and relatives. She attended elementary school in Fountain Green and then graduated from Moroni High School. While in high school she was voted prom queen and also was part of the royalty at one of the annual Fountain Green Lamb Day celebrations.
After high school, Dorothy married Max Ostler and started a journey that has lasted for 72 years. When Max was discharged from the army they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and remained there for 60 years. During her early years in Salt Lake, she worked as a secretary for some large companies. After the children arrived, she chose to be a homemaker. Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several capacities. After Max retired, they spent their time traveling, RV'ing and visiting with grandchildren. They enjoyed winters in their home in St. George, Utah. Ten years ago, they bought a new home there and decided to stay permanently.
Max and Dorothy were blessed with 4 children—Max Edward, who died shortly after birth, Darrell, Carla, and Arthur Kent, who died at age 16 from an auto accident. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and all five siblings along with their spouses, with the exception of Merril’s wife, Cherrill Anderson. Dorothy is survived by her husband Max Ostler, son Darrell (Susan), and daughter Carla Armstrong. Also, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one sweet little great, great granddaughter.
As a result of a fall, a fractured hip, and subsequent complications, Dorothy was confined to assisted living for the past two and a half years. The family members would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff and management of Spring Gardens for their compassionate care during this time. We also want to give special thanks to Dorothy's hospice nurse Deb Rosema. She has been our rock and a great caregiver and friend. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 15th, at 11 a.m. at Holbrook Mortuary in Salt Lake. A viewing will be held an hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Fountain Green, Utah cemetery
