Duane Carlos Jackson, age 83, passed on March 22, 2020 in Sandy UT. Born September 13, 1936 in Parachute, Colorado to Carlos and Winifred Jackson. Duane married JoAnn Leaver on August 9, 1958.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Susan Miller, his loving wife of 56 years and his daughter Cheryl Ann Jacobs. He leaves behind his sons Randy and Sam, his grandchildren Scott, Bob, JoAnn, Alexander, Sierra, Rylie, Chloe and great-grandson Andrew.
Duane loved his family, golf, old cars, photography, country music, camping and being in the outdoors. He graduated from Westminster college in Salt Lake City and was also a proud member of the national guard. He worked for many years and retired from Rasmussen Equipment Company. If you know him, you knew over the span of his life he held many jobs. Duane would say “work hard at no matter what you do and do it to the best of your ability.” He taught so many lessons over the years whether it was to the students from his years of teaching, his time as a wrestling and basketball coach, his time as a dorm dad and more. He also worked for the airlines traveling the world and bring his family along as much as he could. Duane was a bouncer for a couple of local bars and had many stories to tell from all his adventures in life. He was a tough, honest, stubborn, hardworking man with a heart of gold and would make you feel as if you were the only person in the world. He would give you the shirt off his back and even the last cold one in the fridge. The many that were lucky enough to know him would agree that his sense of humor was one of his best qualities. Duane could make you smile even on the toughest day. So, we will all try to live by your example and take a piece of you and the wisdom with us.
You will be greatly missed, Rest in peace and fly high Dad, Grumps we all love and miss you.
