Edwin Lavell Ringwood was born on July 11, 1926 in Salt Lake City. The third son of John Albert and Lola Ringwood. He died on March 3, 2023 in Sandy, Utah. He was 96.
Lavell, as he was known to his family and friends, was an avid reader, sports fan, and enjoyed the classics. He began a degree in Latin at the University of Utah after World War II and finished it the day his first grandchild was born in 1971.
It was in the Latin class he met Eleanor Norton, who was working on a Master’s degree in languages. They married September 1st 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Together they reared seven children in California, Salt Lake City, and Kansas City before Eleanor was stricken with Alzheimer’s.
Lavell loved to knit and produced scores of afghans, sweaters and Christmas stockings. Later, he took to making holiday cards.
He enjoyed being a member of the LDS Church especially working with young people especially as the Rocky MM Gleamen advisor with Sister Aida Rowley of the Stratford Ward.
He is survived by his sister Louise Moore of West Jordan, daughters Lane Bennet of Boise, ID and Ann Davidson of Grants Pass, OR and sons Jon of Bountiful, UT Bruce of Butler, MO, Rex of Chino, CA and Lynn of Grain Valley, MO. Preceded by death by his parents, siblings, wife and one son, Scott. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and a like number great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 2245 East 3900 South, Millcreek, Utah. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM. Interment will be in the Charleston Cemetery.
