Born January 30, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Egon August Glaus and Blanche Christensen Glaus. Married Shirley Clark May 4, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Passed away December 2, 2020 in Bountiful, Utah.
Graduated from West High School in 1944 and then served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Asia-Pacific area during World War II. Earned B.A. and M.S. degrees from the University of Utah. He began a career in education in the Salt Lake City school district as a teacher at Jackson Junior High School and later at West High School. He then moved to New Zealand where he and his family lived for seven years. There he served on the faculty of the Church College of New Zealand, first as a teacher, and then as treasurer and business manager of the school. He also served in the presidency of the New Zealand Temple, and for a short time as acting temple president. Returning to America he moved to Hawaii, living there for a total of five years, being employed as general manager of the Polynesian Cultural Center and later as manager of Paradise Pacifica on the island of Kauai.
At home in Salt Lake City he was employed in the offices of the Granite School District, followed by employment at the Utah State Office of Education, from which he retired. He was called from retirement by the Utah State Office of Education to serve for one year as interim superintendent of the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, filling many and varied callings. With his wife Shirley he served as a missionary at the Cove Fort visitor center in central Utah.
In his retirement years he rekindled an early interest and training in the visual arts, enjoying visits to museums and galleries, and producing works of watercolors and oils.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, sister Lorraine Nielsen and brother Gordon Glaus. Survived by his children Alan (Shelly) Glaus, Jeri (Jeffrey, deceased) Black, Randy Glaus, Bryan (Marilyn) Glaus, Tané Glaus, Susan (Joel) Borgmeier, 30 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff and Legacy House of Bountiful for their tender care for Wayne during his last three years of life and Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for their dignified care over the last few months.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 17th at 11:00 AM, viewing one-hour prior. Due to Covid-19 regulations attendance to the services are by invitation only, however everyone is invited to watch the services online. To watch the funeral service scroll to the bottom of this obituary page on Dec. 17th at 11:00 AM, the service will be remain available to watch for 90 days.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
