Hudson Webster Obituary

Salt Lake City and Payson, Utah  -  Hudson Webster was the oldest son, born to Clyde W. Webster and Rintha Hudson on March 15, 1923, in Heber Utah.  He passed away on July 21, 2021, at 98 years, to be reunited with his wife, Marilyn.

He was raised in Charleston, Utah where he had, in his words: “A fifty-acre farm and a fifty-acre playground, the Provo River, lots of trees, and animals. Each year we would have at least one acre for garden and one acre for potatoes.” He met the love of his life when he moved next door to Marilyn Patterson, the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.  It was love at first sight for both.  They were married in 1942 after only two months of knowing each other, and were married for 72 years.  They both went off to San Diego in 1943, where Dad served in the Navy on the USS Cape Johnson as a Carpenters Mate Petty Officer First Class from 1943-1945.  “My home for 18 months and traveling 80,000 miles at a top speed of 11 knots.”

After the war Dad and Mom moved back to Heber to their own farm at the top of the Lane.  Dad had 15 Holstein cows each with their own names.  The milk they produced was the finest. He also made a living as a finish carpenter.  He worked on the Homestead in Midway.  Over his lifetime he built hundreds of custom homes, taking pride in his technique creating circular staircases leading to open space with huge windows.  He supervised, as a General Contractor, the development of many entire subdivisions.  Dad never built a home he would not live in himself with his own family.  They were beautiful and built to last.

Hudson Webster spent the last year of his life peacefully tending his tomatoes in his garden at the MSB Central Utah Veterans Home.  He leaves behind, his daughters Debbie Webster, Denyce Webster-McDaniel, Wendee Webster, his sons and grandsons Chet Webster and Zaydrian Webster, his sister-in-law Wilma Webster, his friend Charles Schultz, Bob McQueen and many other nieces and nephews, his caregivers at the VA, and other dear friends who all cherished his wit and wisdom.
