J Harold Weir Obituary

J. Harold Weir, age 94, passed away on April 25, 2022.  Harold was born to Thomas H. Weir and Gladys A. Bosworth on December 27, 1927 in Ogden Utah, the 4th of 7 children.  It was in Ogden where he met Margene Madsen and they were married on June 9, 1948 and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on February 17, 1954.

Harold joined the Navy in 1946 at the end of WWII and served to 1948 on the USS Princeton as an Electronic Technician Mate.  Harold graduated from Weber State (Associate), the University of Utah (Bachelors), and Utah State University with a Masters in Education.  Harold worked at numerous companies and different vocations; ending his working career at Salt Lake Community College as an Electricity Instructor and Master Electrician.

Harold and Margene had 10 children: Larinda (died April 13, 1975) (Leo, div.), Deanna (Steven), Roger (Lolli), Cori (Heber), Melanie (Jerry), Jeanne (Bryan), Harold (Roxanne), Daniel (Kare), Burke (Chie, div.), Jonathan (Julie).  Harold and Margene have 36 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren; with 2 more on the way.  Further survived by his brother Tom. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margene Madsen Weir on July 19, 2020; his parents; and his siblings: Ada, Evelyn, Vila, Blaine, and LaNae.

Harold was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in various callings, including Sunday School Teacher, Elders Quorum President, Stake Missionary, and Bishopric Counselor.

Later in life Dad owned a motorhome, and he loved driving it to his High School Reunions, and always winning the prize for the most children.  He “puttered” around the house on Spring Ln doing yard work; always patching the roof, shopping for more clothes, and going to Harbor Freight.  He will forever be known for his red, “Elmer Fudd” Christmas hat and suit.

We would like to thank the caregivers at Carrington Court Assisted Living and Active Hospice for their loving care.
