Joan “Joanie” Maack Drage born February 24, 1932 completed her incredible journey of life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in SLC with family at bedside. She was a deeply devoted wife and mother, loyal friend, a pilot, singer, pianist, guitarist, reader, sport enthusiast, temple square guide, cabin co-builder, gardener, Family Reunion “Gathering” organizer, and Drage Family Recording Studio Producer ;)
She quickly earned and excelled in her “Studies of Life”: Bachelors of Compassion; Masters in Enthusiasm; Doctorate of Service; Advanced post-doctorate in Optimism.
Her Kitchen was her playground; positive adjectives was her language; song was her gift; family was her joy; Hershey Bars were her food; love was her communication; the cabin was her dream home; cherish was her favorite word; a fireplace was a necessity; “I am a Pollyanna” was her mantra; gracefully is how she endured; Kindness is her legacy.
She was adored and will be missed…
There will be a public viewing December 17, 2022 from 4:00-5:30 to visit with family and friends – no service afterwards. East Millcreek LDS Chapel 3408 Celeste Way, SLC, Utah. Thank you so much to our mom’s treasured friends from the ward and neighborhood they lived in for 38 years. She loved you all so much!
