Julie Ann Garlick Obituary – October 13, 1957 ~ January 1, 2025
Julie Ann Garlick, born October 13, 1957, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will continue to live on in the love she shared and the many lives she touched. Julie was the oldest daughter of Carol Ann Anderson and Hal Garlick.
She spent her early years in Sandy and Bountiful, Utah, before building a life filled with love, adventure, and resilience. As the oldest sister, she played an integral role in helping to raise her three younger brothers after her parents’ divorce. Julie married Hank Davis and was blessed with a daughter, Angel. She later married Doug Pearson, with whom she had a son, Alex. Though their marriage ended in 1991, Julie remained a close friend to Doug until his death in 2014 and a devoted mother and grandmother.
Julie had a varied career, working for many years at OC Tanner in Salt Lake City, followed by numerous office positions. She earned degrees in both accounting and business management. Known for her vibrant spirit and diverse interests, she enjoyed scuba diving, camping, cooking, and exploring the California coast. A lifelong lover of animals, she always had a dog by her side and often a cat as well—one of whom famously lived as a one-eyed companion for over a decade. Her African Gray parrot, Dan, was another cherished member of her family.
Julie also had a special place in her heart for Christmas, which she always celebrated with her family, and she never missed an opportunity to dress up as a witch on Halloween. A lifelong avid reader, Julie was particularly drawn to true crime stories. From an early age, she developed a deep love for the Beatles, whose music served as the soundtrack to many of her life’s moments. Known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering acceptance of others, Julie welcomed both people and animals into her life with open arms.
Julie is survived by her children, Angel (Dave) and Alex (Felicia) Pearson; three grandchildren; her siblings Richard (Jen), Roger (Rhonda), Michael (Tammi), Shirley (Scott), and Julie (Paul); her loyal Little Dog; and her beloved parrot, Dan. She is also remembered with deep affection by a close-knit group of lifelong friends—Lynn, Cindy, Peggy, Lisa, and Debbie—who shared over 50 years of friendship, weathering life’s ups and downs together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both former husbands and several cherished pets. Julie’s memory will live on through the love she gave, the kindness she showed, and the many lives she touched.
A visitation and open house will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Holbrook Memorial Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
