Kaye Ungricht Obituary

Kaye Yvonne Siepert Ungricht, 71, died after a 3-year battle with ALS on January 6, 2022.

Kaye, known by most as Yvonne, was born November 30, 1950 to Mark W. Siepert and Ruby Eva Richman in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the fifth of seven children; Eva (J’lene Rudd), Jerry (Mark), Blair (Jay), Linda (Veniece Ricks), Kaye (Yvonne Ungricht), Stephen (David), Rita (RaNea McKinnon).  Her childhood was spent in Rexburg, where she had many fond memories that she spoke of often for the rest of her life.

Yvonne graduated from Madison High School, Class of 1969 and went on to study at BYU-Idaho, then known as Ricks College. She studied Elementary Education with a Minor in Child Development and Family Relations. She had a deep love for learning and continued her education at Brigham Young University, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1973. The next year she started working as an Elementary School teacher near Idaho Falls.

In 1978 she met her sweetheart, Herbert John Ungricht and they married June 13th, in the Salt Lake Temple that same year. They had a wonderful 26 years of marriage and were blessed with six daughters; Laura, Melanie, Barbara, Annie, Karen and Sarah (stillborn). During those years Yvonne loved telling people that she was a homemaker. They traveled together and lived in Chicago, Cincinnati, Utah and California.

After her husband passed away, in 2004, she spent her time playing with grandchildren, studying scriptures, doing family history, serving a service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, gardening, reading and spending time with her family.

Yvonne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Savior, Jesus Christ, was the center of her whole life.

Yvonne is survived by her loving daughters, Laura (Steve) Huff; Melanie Ungricht; Barbara (Jared) Bryner; Annie (Jesse) Vaughan; Karen (Kevin) Muhlestein; sisters Linda (Paul) Ricks; RaNae (Monte) McKinnon; brothers Jerry (Carolyn) Siepert; Stephen Siepert; 9 grandsons and 5 granddaughters and many loving nieces and nephews.
