Leonard Keding Obituary

Leonard Eugene Keding, our loving Uncle, passed away July 2, 2020 in Draper, Utah. Born December 3,1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son to Elon and Ellen Johnson Keding.

Leonard has always been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.  He loved working with the Sports in the stake which he did for many, many years.  His favorite calling was going with the Young Women to Girls Camps and said “I went to more Girls Camp than most girls”.  He started attending girls camp in his 20’s and was still going well beyond his 60’s. One of his favorite hikes with the girls was to Havasupai in the Grand Canyon.

He served a Mission to Sweden and then served in the Army in the Korean War. In the war he served as a Staff Sergeant and cleared mine fields.  He has always been patriotic and had a great love for his country.

He was like a second grandfather to his nieces and nephews.

He worked in many different professions and later owned his own business (Shing Wholesale).

Family was always very important to him.  He attended every family event. Even though he couldn’t walk at the family Christmas party last December, he still wanted to attend and was driven around while the family did a service project so he could be participate in the activity.

Holladay was always his home and he lived there for his entire life.

Preceded in death by his parents, Elon and Ellen Keding and his four brothers,(baby Leon died at birth), Leon, Melvin and Ronald.
