Linda Twitchell Obituary

In Loving Memory of Linda Walker Twitchell 12/15/1940 - 10/28/2023

It is with love and gratitude that we share the passing of our mother, Linda Walker Twitchell, who died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 28, 2023, at the age of 82.

Born on December 15, 1940, in Sutherland, Utah to Ferrell Keith Walker and Hazel Lovell. Linda was a person of integrity and intelligence. She was a graduate and proud alumni of Delta High School and the University of Utah. Linda leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, fairness, and equality that is a hallmark of her character. She was an active member and past state president for Business and Professional Women’s Club (1979 - 2023) and a founding member of the Utah Pay Equity Coalition in the 1980’s.

Linda was most well known for her passion for music. She was an incredibly gifted pianist and organist, and spent many years accompanying musical groups along the Wasatch Front including Symphony Singers, Allegro Chorus, and Wexford Ensemble. No matter where she lived, she always enjoyed serving in her LDS congregation as organist and choir director. In addition, Linda was an usher for more than two decades with the SL County Patron Services at Abravanel Hall, Capitol Theater, and Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

An athlete and avid sports enthusiast, Linda played softball and basketball, and was part of a bowling league for years. Linda coached county recreation women’s and LDS girl’s softball teams including every team on which her daughters played. Linda was a University of Utah season ticket holder for the Red Rocks women’s gymnastics team, volleyball, softball, soccer, and men’s football. She was a loud and proud Running Ute fan.

She is survived by her two daughters Stacie Diesel (John), Cathy Holt (Bryan),  and grandchildren Jaiden Kemp, Griffin and Sarah Holt, Isaac and Shantel Holt, and Noah Holt; and her sister Venna Haynes (Neil). Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

An open house celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, November 18th from 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. with remarks from her daughters at 2 p.m. Please join us at 630 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. All who knew her are welcome to attend and connect with her family through stories and memories of Linda.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Utah Symphony or the University of Utah Athletic Department.
