Marilyn grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School. She worked in a grocery store and was one of the first meat wrappers in Utah. In 1960, she was introduced to Raymond Child by her brother Gordon. Marilyn and Ray were married in January 1961 in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Logan Utah Temple precisely two years later.

Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She never missed any of her children’s activities in school or church. She always kept her home spotless and well organized and loved decorating extensively for every holiday. She adored music, sang with the Symphony Singers, and played the piano in Primary for many years.  Marilyn had a beautiful alto voice. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also was deeply involved with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Marilyn held offices in the Salt Lake Council of Women and the University of Utah Mothers’ Club. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing and camping in the High Uintas with her family and friends.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Summit Senior Living for the care and friendship they offered to Marilyn.
