Martha Lapetina Obituary

Martha Lapetina was born in New York City, NY on 05/06/1929, and passed away of natural causes in Salt Lake City on 11/18/2024, at the age of 95.

Martha was an intelligent, confident, and well-read woman.  Because of this, she was able to have insightful conversations with anyone she met.  Martha was known for her clever wit, humor and vibrant personality.  Even in her final days, she maintained her sassy personality to the entertainment of her caregivers.  She made everyone around her feel valued and respected.   Martha’s final days were a reflection of the life she lived—graceful, dignified, and surrounded by love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and countless cherished memories.

Martha was a devoted mother and wife.  She faced the additional challenge of dealing with two of her children’s severe hearing loss from birth and subsequent progressive loss of vision.  She was able to instill strength and perseverance in her children to deal with life’s challenges.

Martha was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 69 years, and is survived by her three children, two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.

Martha worked as a physician’s assistant in New York when she and Robert were first married.  After her children were out of school, she was a medical assistant in Salt Lake City.  Martha always had a passion for medical knowledge and how the human body works.

Martha enjoyed spending time outdoors, including snow skiing, tennis, mountain biking and golf.

Graveside services will be held in Salt Lake City on Friday, November 22.  A reception will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 at 1337 E. Blaine Ave. (1735 S.) for family and friends.
