Nancy Dayle (Sudweeks) Tribe

Nancy Dayle Sudweeks Tribe, 81, passed away peacefully in her Holladay home on Saturday, August 6, 2022. 

    Nancy was born in Logan, Utah on April 26, 1941, the second of four children of Jack Sudweeks and Lucille Kendall Sudweeks Weidner. Nancy’s father traveled frequently for his work, and in her childhood she lived in many cities across the Pacific Northwest. They eventually settled down in Salt Lake City, where Nancy was part of the first graduating class of Highland High School. While working at Southeast Furniture Company in Sugarhouse, Nancy met her eternal companion, Vernal David Tribe. They were married in the Logan Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on May 16, 1963. Nancy later worked for Dan’s Foods and University Credit Union until retirement. Nancy enjoyed family history work, playing card games with friends and family, and doing crafts and needlework. She was a gifted seamstress and knitter. She also loved classical music and shared this love with her children by frequently playing the piano in their home. The children especially remember her favorites, Ernesto Lecuona’s Malaguena and Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune. Vern and Nancy lived in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, Utah for forty eight years, and after retirement served in the office of the Florida Orlando Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 2017 they moved to their current home in Holladay, Utah.

    Nancy is survived by her devoted husband Vern; children Mike (Marci) Tribe, Lisa (Cris) Myers, Doug (Sherry) Tribe, and Kathi (Rob) Jensen; seventeen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; as well as her brother Ron (Doris) Sudweeks and sisters Lynn (Colin) Kammerer and Kaye (Randy) Osborne.

    Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 11 am at the Valley View 11th Ward, 1925 East Gunderson Lane (4101 South), Holladay, Utah. Friends may visit prior to the service, 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be at Elysian Gardens, Millcreek, Utah.
