Ralph Kramer Obituary

Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and dear friend, Ralph, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on January 3, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 7, 1930, in Salt Lake City, UT to William Frederick and Helen Gruben Kramer. Ralph married his eternal companion, Nancy Christensen, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1955 and together they raised six children.

Ralph graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission, helped to build his first chapel and baptized his golden family, the Gulbransons. During his lifetime, he served faithfully in many callings, but loved working in the Area Sports Program and with the youth, many of which he employed. He left a lasting impression on countless people.

In 1958, he started his own construction company as a general contractor, and for 60 years he built custom homes, churches, many structures for the Hogle Zoo and his apartments in Provo. Highlights of his career were the restoration and addition of the Tabernacle in Randolph, UT as well as designing and developing RWK Industrial Park.

Dad was an avid Utah fan and proud to be the first flag waiver at the football and basketball games. He loved spending time with his family and close friends enjoying sporting events, traveling, golfing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching movies and attending the theatre. He especially loved Bear Lake and St. George.

He is survived by his children, Marshall, Denise (Gary) Jones, Blake (Wendy), Drew (Machele), Karalee (Blaine) Olson, Garrett (Nichole), sister-in-law Dale Martinez, brother-in-law Derek Short, 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his “Dear Sweet Nancy”, his parents and his brother, Hyrum.

We wish to thank Dixie Regional Medical Center for the care they provided for Dad.
