Richard Ellis Davis

Dearly beloved husband of Ruth Woodall Davis passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 24th in Middleton, Idaho, surrounded by loved ones. 

Richard is survived by his wife Ruth of 71 years, his son Rick (Angie), daughters Sheryl Sheafor, Kathy Johns, Nancy Tuttle (Bob), Shauna Knowles (Mike), and preceded in death by daughter Linda Sue McDaniel and great-grandson Jameson Johns (Daniel and Cindy). 

Also survived by 26 adoring grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren with two more to be born soon and a great-great-grandchild due in July. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Maggie Davis, and all of his siblings: his brother, Ralph and sisters Louella, Priscilla, Crystal, Virginia, Evelyn, Norma and Carolyn.

Richard and Ruth lived 64 years in Holladay and so he is going back home to be among many of the great friends that he cherished through the years. 

Richard served in the Navy during World War II and was one of the few remaining veterans often referred to as the greatest generation.  He originally worked as a plasterer until becoming a General Contractor (he built many homes and fixed up many more). He was an owner in Triple I Supply, Jack’s Insulation Service and FHD Investment Company.  Dick is respected and loved by those who knew him best as he worked with integrity and lived the golden rule.  

Richard served in many organizations in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Counselor in the Bishopric, Stake Missionary, Young Men’s Organization, and Scout Master for many years. He loved serving in the primary with his wife Ruth. He faithfully served in any capacity that was asked of him and developed treasured relationships. 

He was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11:00am at the Cottonwood 2nd Ward, 2080 East 5165 South, Holladay, UT; where there will be a private family viewing held prior 10:00-10:45am. Interment will follow at the Holladay Memorial Cemetery. The funeral service will be live-streamed online for those unable to attend in person.
